Welcome to my portfolio!

 

My name is Émile Lafrenière, and I’m a writer and game designer who’s always been fascinated by game mechanics and storytelling. I worked for many years in the audiovisual business to finance short films and web series before my interest in video games became a career possibility. After my studies in scriptwriting in 2014, I moved to Quebec City to enter a program in game design, which later led to an internship at Beenox. I was then hired as a UI/UX designer on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered to work on menus and in-game videos. At the completion of the project, I decided to take some time off to finish a novel manuscript I have been working on in the previous year. After lots of rewrites and some stubbornness in my queries, my current publisher offered me a book deal. And what was supposed to be a stand-alone novel became a trilogy project that I’m still trying to finish for 2020. In the meantime, I also returned to the video games industry as a development tester at Ubisoft Montreal.
